About the Campaign

On the 7th of July 2019, 21 members of the Australian Health Professionals team will be pounding the pavement at the Gold Coast Marathon for Charlie. Charlie is a lovable boy who has been suffering from a rare condition that has severely affected his growth and development. After undergoing several tests and seeing various specialists, sadly Charlie’s family still has no success in getting a clear diagnosis.

Our Goal

Lack of diagnosis means that funding for equipment has been adversely affected. Charlie is in urgent need of specialised equipment such as supportive seating, a standing frame and support suits/jackets. Money raised would greatly help in improving the quality of life for this adorable little boy.

About the Campaign

Charbel suffers from Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), a rare neurological disorder in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks part of its peripheral nervous system. The AHP team trained and ran the Melbourne Marathon in 2018 to help raise funds for Charbel.

Results

AHP’s participants raised just short of $31K for the cause! This money has now been turned over to Charbel’s family to purchase a vehicle suitable to transport him and his electric wheelchair.
