In an Australian survey conducted in the month post-COVID-19 restrictions, it was found that symptoms of ‘depressive and anxiety symptoms’ more than doubled. In the same study, it was found that a growing number of Australians had thoughts of ‘being better off dead’. This escalating rate of mental health issues is deeply concerning and it is necessary to address through psychology or management. After months of major lockdown restrictions, many people were confronted with the reality of returning to social situations. While you may feel initial pressure to jump straight back into social situations, don’t forget to keep these interactions positive. You may have used COVID-19 to back away from previously uncomfortable or negative relationships with friends, family members, or colleagues. This can be a very good thing!
